How do I get the letters?

First, contact your own local Post Office as they sometimes will have letters to Santa. We at Santa's Heart would be thankful if the next time you were in the post office you would give a flyer to the Post Office Manager to let them know there is a place on the internet they can direct the public when asked for letters. Many people who will not, or just cannot drive to the main distribution centers may visit our site and the end result may be a child getting a letter or gift.
Second, you can call the US Postal Service at 1- 800 ASK-USPS (800) -275-8777 and ask where you can go to read Santa's mail in your area. Generally there is a Consumer Affairs office attached to the main distribution center in every postal region. These will be the people that answer questions about Santa's mail.

We will dedicate a section in the Volunteers forum where you can post information that pertains to your local area. As the information comes in we will organize it on the site to benefit others in the future.

What to expect when you arrive at the Post Office.

When you arrive at the Post Office, you need to identify yourself as one of Santa's helpers, and that you want to get letters to adopt. Whether you're getting one or two to adopt personally, or getting a batch to scan and upload to the Santa's Heart website, you will need to let the postal employees who administer the program  know what you're doing.  Under normal conditions, they are not in the habit of letting people take large numbers of letters.  The Post Office wants every letter writer to receive at least a letter back.  So it is important both to the U.S. Postal Service and us here at Santa's Heart, that no letter gets left behind. You will fill out a form and sign that you are accepting responsibility for the letters that you take.
