How is Santa’s Heart funded?

This project was started out of pocket by the Parrish family. If it were not for the kindness of many contributors who tirelessly gave of their talents to build Santa’s Heart, we wouldn’t exist at all. Please read about these “Heroes” on the tribute page as they all deserve recognition for the huge amount of work accomplished in such a short amount of time.  It was our expectation that we would help a few hundred children when we started. It is obvious that the concept is one that has touched many, and demand has far exceeded even my wildest thoughts.  It takes a lot of resources to keep a service such as this operational and the time has come to ask for donations and sponsorships to keep the dream alive.

It is a marvelously simple concept. The more we have to work with, the more we can achieve. We realize that this is only the beginning, and we can scale this project nationwide and even into other countries. If you want this for your community then we are here for you.

Why should I donate?

It takes a lot of time to design the pages and write the code that makes Santas’s Heart program work. We then test it on all of the supported platforms, and constantly provide new features to better benefit the volunteers we support across America.

It also takes time and effort to set up and maintain the website and to host the project, the server to store the data files, and the various mailing lists. We also strive to provide you, the user, prompt response and answers to your questions, and help assist our guest in all facets of the project.

Do I have to send money?

Not at all. In fact, it's better if you contribute your time to help support the project. Time is much more valuable than monetary donations. If you'd like to help, but don't care to contribute in a monetary way, you could donate your time to help us further the cause and help answer more of Santa’s mail. There are many places that need extra eyes and hands. Just ask us where you can help and we'll be glad to help find the right project and point you in the right direction.

Where does my donation go?

Unlike many other projects, donations to Santa’s Heart go towards supporting exactly what you want it to support. If you designate your donation to go toward the letter and gift fund, then 100% of that money will do precisely that. If you designate your donation for the operations of Santa’s Heart and the project itself, then your donation could be used to fund the power and bandwidth to keep the project running, pay for services, expenses and equipment used to keep the project alive. We will not raid the gift fund to pay for overhead. If we cannot afford to pay the bills through donations and sponsorships then we will stop the operation and distribute all remaining gift money to sponsor and buy gifts for the children and then close shop. There are too many organizations that blur the lines and move the assets through creative bookkeeping. We will maintain a simple set of books and there will be clear lines of separation. If we need money to operate then we will work diligently to find it outside of the gift fund.

How much does Santa’s Heart need ?

We can not answer that truthfully. There is no way to measure the amount of people who will give their time to answer the Letters that Santa Claus gets. Santa’sHeart is active and surviving on it's own every day, with the help of users and others who have contributed to its success. That being said, donations do help keep the project going by paying for the expenses.

If you only can spare $1.00 to help keep Santa’s Heart going, that is great, if you spare $10.00, that is great too. No contribution is too small, and no contribution is too big. Every one is equally welcome and deeply appreciated.

Where can I send my donation?

There is an account at PayPal specifically set up to accept donations to Santa’s Heart. It's safe, it's fast, it's easy, and it protects the privacy of both the donor and the receiver.

Why PayPal?

PayPal is one of the more reputable online payment services. they charge a small fee for processing and we charge a small handling fee to cover that charge.

How does PayPal work?

PayPal takes your donation from your credit card and puts it into the PayPal account that has been set up for this purpose. It all happens securely, online, without having to step away from your computer.

Are there other options?

What if I can't or don't want to make a donation?

That is never a problem at all. We don’t care how you got here, or why you are here, we are just glad that you are here. Enjoy the project and the website anyway. It remains free, as does the rest of our project.
